Here are some pictures of a sweater that I bought from Salvation Army a few weeks ago. I bought it with the intention of destroying it but then slowly fell in love with it but will soon destroy it, I swear. and make something else out of it. If you really love something, you should destroy it (not senselessly, but ceremonially).

I've got a new obsession! I bought a sewing machine on a impulse surfing the internet one very late night, and now I'm completely in love with it!! This very well explains the paintings that I have not finished, the library books returned unread, etc. Oh whatevs, it's so amazing; and it's kind of therapeutic, if you ignore the obsession part.

It all started after I got back from Glasgow and looked into my closet. Holy fuck I've forgotten how much clothes I own, I thought. In Scotland, my wardrobe was two white tshirts and jeans. Borrring. It was like a cartoon character uniform.

And there they were, loads of old t-shirts that I haven't worn since high school. Now, I am a very sensitive and caring person, even to my clothes. When old t-shirts are not worn for a while, they get melancholy and upset, and develop a devastating abandonment issues. I felt really bad about being such a horrible clothing owner, but I really didn't want to wear that Bright Eyes shirt again.

Then, I had a wonderful idea! Why not cut up the shirts and sew them together into a new shirt, like a collage (other obsession). Or better yet, I had so much that I could make t-shirt dresses! And that was how I decided that my life depended on the purchase of a sewing machine.

With it, I've made 2 dresses...

Had a fun photo shoot today with an alien girl from outer space!!!

STUART McKIRDY

I saw this guy's stuff at the Glasgow School of Art degree show, and I was completely floored! It was just oh my gosh too cool. I wanted to wear everything he made. He also had this really awesome video in his display with an kickass electro soundtrack. See it on his site here.

BERNHARD WILHELM

German designer. He did some stuff with Bjork a while ago. Dazed and Confused did an issue on it. He graduated from art school in Antwerp and worked as an assistant to Walter Van Beirendonck (below) and Alexander McQueen, both crazy awesome designers.

(In case you were wondering what he looks like)

Another German designer. He's a member of a group of innovative fashion designers known as the Antwerp Six. His website is really cool and it's got tons of pictures from his past collections. You could really see his style getting crazier as the years go.

My brother helped me take pictures underwater in the pool. We put the camera in a plastic pretzel jar we found in the garage.

This band called Nirvana actually approached me about using the above photo for their album Never Mind, but for whatever reason decided to use a naked baby instead. Assholes.

Hello hello, here is volume zwei of Dancey Pants. But before we get into that, I must say I (accidentally!) went to one of the best dance parties ever...the Silent Rave! It was this past Sunday in Union Square in Manhattan. If you've never heard of it, basically it's a mass of people bopping around to their iPods. It's very funny when you're just walking into it; it looks like a cult gathering of sorts. There were just as many people watching as there were dancing, so it makes you a wee bit self-conscious at first, but once you dive in, it's crrrazy how much you forget to care that you're in public, flailing your arms, in broad daylight.

Anyway, I had my picture taken by this blogger. Too bad I didn't bring my camera, but good thing everyone else did:

This last one here is my favourite child. I think all the other ones could get a wee bit crazier still. So I think I will make it into a painting. It's funny cos I'm supposedly a painting and print major but I kind of hate painting. It's high class boring shit. I get the same pleasure from flossing my teeth.

New York Art Fix

Last Tuesday, I took my brother out to some galleries in the city to blow his tiny child mind. Here are some highlights:

Drawing on Film @ The Drawing Center

Artists in this exhibit made films by scratching, drawing, painting directly on the film strips. The film strips were something like 24 frames per second, so 24 drawing/paintings per second!! Dang. It was really cool and psychedelic watching little shapes wiggle around. After a while though you get real dizzy cos it's like staring at a strobe light. Here is a 10 second clip I took. Drawing Center, please don't sue me.

Interactivos? @ Eyebeam Art and Techonology Center

We accidentally went into this place and it turned out to be Super Cool!! It's like a lab where artists combine technology and art resulting in some very clever things. One of which (I forgot to take a picture of) was a Wii-chime, a windchime made with several Wii sticks. We couldn't figure out how to work it but the idea was funny.

This was an unReality station to create a collage with a TV station as the backdrop, and you could add stuff on top by placing cut-outs on the monitor which is then projected onto the big screen. There's a video camera hanging from the ceiling so you could press record and playback.

A camera projected onto a screen that combines images taken over a short time period into one picture.

For this one, you stand in front of a screen and use little post-it notes to select accessories that you want to attach to yourself.

I think this one was definitely my favourite. Giants paper cut-outs are woven into design reminiscent of Rorschach ink-blots. Can you believe it's only paper??!

We rounded out the day with a stop by the Black Kids' set at Virgin Megastore. My brother stood there with his arms crossed, looking like a real cool thirteen year old, while I rocked myself silly.

Here are some delightful pics off of my cellphone from the ArtCar extravaganza that I attended last night. If only there were one of me doing a little jig while holding a sign on the street corner showing these nutty car-freaks where to go. Alas, these will have to do. This is an event that happens once a year in Minneapolis during the summer, people get together to parade their furtrimmed-papermachéd-hotgluegunned-spraypainted rides while the rest of us "oooh" and "ahhhh", from the sidewalk. The coach one was my fav, partially because the two guys that rolled in on it where being pushed by a hoard of children while they munched on a giant box of old dutch potatoe crisps, but also because it cuts back on fossil fuels.
